LYMINGTON TUESDAY CYCLISTS
Lymington Tuesday Cycling regular Tuesday rides have been suspended
following guidance issued by British Cycling about Coronavirus
Based on the Government’s latest advice and guidance on the developing situation around Coronavirus/COVID19, British Cycling has suspended all of its sanctioned, cycling activities, initially until April 30. This includes HSBC UK Ride Social rides.
The decision has been taken based on Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s caution against unnecessary travel and contact with others, to take the necessary steps to protect the health and wellbeing of riders, officials, volunteers and spectators, and alleviate the risk of an additional burden on the emergency services at what is a hugely testing time.
We would strongly encourage all levels of the cycling community to join with British Cycling and the rest of the country in doing all we can to halt the spread of the virus in the midst of what is an unprecedented situation, however we recognise that this news will be disappointing, and potentially worrying, for some.

Lymington Tuesday cyclists are an informal group of bicycle owners who meet on Tuesday mornings for an easy-pace cycle ride and coffee. We are not a club and there is no official membership, but anyone who fits the three "Is it for you?" points below is welcome to come along and join in.
We meet in the Lymington town hall car park at 9:30a.m. in the summer (and at 10:00a.m. in the winter when the clocks go back) and cycle about 20 miles (30km) with a coffee stop half way round. Our regular destinations are the 'Bs', which are 10 miles from Lymington by a roundabout route through the lanes and have a cycle-friendly cafe: Barton, Beaulieu, Burley and Brockenhurst (Click on place for map). Normally we expect to be back in Lymington by 1:00 p.m.
Occasionally, by agreement at the start, we will cycle a bit further (30miles) with a cafe stop in Ringwood or Lyndhurst, or at Lepe beach.
In addition to the regular Tuesday morning rides, we sometimes arrange other longer days out for those who want to cycle on a led ride for up to 60 miles (100km), taking all day to do it at a fairly easy pace.

WHY NOT GIVE IT A TRY? IS IT FOR YOU?
If you have a bicycle, doing nothing, that you always meant to get out on, or would like some exercise in the fresh air, or already cycle and would like to combine it with a coffee stop with a bunch of other friendly cyclists, why not join in?
We try to cycle every Tuesday of the year, with the exception of days in winter when the roads are icy or there is snow. And on very rainy days the group is likely to be few in number.
Either turn up at the Lymington Town Hall (see map), or if you aren't sure if Tuesday Cycling is for you and would like to find out more or check what is happening, contact us on cyclingnewforest@gmail.com
The origin of LTC, beyond those few of us who started it all, has been to encourage people who are not strong or club cyclists to make a commitment to getting fit enough to cycle LTC distances at the LTC pace. Some of our members have built up to this and others are cyclists who have just got older and slower but still want the sociability of a group ride! While we welcome the rapid recent growth in e-bikes taking more people out of cars and putting them onto the road on two wheels, LTC is not really the place for e-biking, apart from cyclists who have been with LTC for some time and now find that an e-bike is the only practical option in order to stay in the group.
A final word of warning - cycling is fun and can be addictive. Some Tuesday cyclists who joined in thinking that 10 miles was a major cycling achievement have been known to buy shiny new bikes a year later and even the odd item of lycra clothing.
- All bicycles and all styles of cycle clothing are welcome
- No one gets left behind
- If you have a problem, such as a puncture, and aren't sure how to fix it there will be someone there to help
