Lymington Tuesday Cyclists

The Lymington Tuesday cyclists are an informal group of bicycle owners who meet on Tuesday mornings for an easy-pace cycle ride and coffee. We are not a club and there is no official membership, but anyone is welcome to come along and join in.

We meet at 10:00 a.m. in the Lymington town hall car park and cycle about 20 miles (30km) with a coffee stop about half way round. Our regular destinations are the 'Bs', which are 10 miles from Lymington by a roundabout route through the lanes and have a cycle-friendly cafe: Barton, Beaulieu, Burley and Brockenhurst (Click on place for map). Normally we expect to be back in Lymington by 1:00 p.m.

Occasionally, by agreement at the start, we will cycle a bit further (30miles) with a cafe stop in Ringwood or Lyndhurst, or at Lepe beach.

In addition to the regular Tuesday morning rides, we sometimes arrange other longer days out for those who want to cycle on a led ride for up to 60 miles (100km), taking all day to do it at a fairly easy pace.

Why not give it a try?

If you have a bicycle, doing nothing, that you always meant to get out on, or would like some gentle exercise in the fresh air, or already cycle and would like to combine it with a coffee stop with a bunch of other friendly cyclists, why not join in?
  • All bicycles and all styles of cycle clothing are welcome.
  • No one gets left behind.
  • If you have a problem, such as a puncture, and aren't sure how to fix it there will be someone there to help.

We try to cycle every Tuesday of the year, with the exception of days in winter when the roads are icy or there is snow. And on very rainy days the group is likely to be few in number.

Either turn up at the Lymington Town Hall (see map), or if you would like to find out more or check what is happening contact us on cyclingnewforest@googlemail.com

A final word of warning - cycling is fun and can be addictive. Some Tuesday cyclists who joined in thinking that 10 miles was a major cycling achievement have been known to buy shiny new bikes a year later and even the odd item of lycra clothing.
